Fluid Beds
Our fluid beds are custom built to fit your needs and are make it very convenient to have all your cups of powder right there...to run 1 to 4 colors at one time.
They are ran with a single air pump. The valves on each base lets your cups work independently of each other, so making adjustments to the air flow is really easy.
The purpose of the fluid bed is to fluidize the powder paint to give your jigs or spinner blades a thinner, more even coat of paint.
This will also save time and money by using less paint. In the final curing process using a thinner coat of paint means less chances of drips forming.
This lower density is what allows a consistent uniform and smooth coating.
Our fluid bed cups are hand made and reusable.
The membrane is made from 1/8" porous polyethylene fluidizing sheet and are permanently glued into the cups.
The membranes are a very durable piece of plastic that wont rip or tear.
These cups can be reused by changing your powder paint as many times as you want by cleaning your cup with a vacuum and paper towels.
The membrane will be stained but wont effect the next color of powder.
Don't use water because the water will get trapped in the membrane and will take a while to dry out.
Each of the powder paints have slightly different characteristics based on their color.
And some paints will actually fluidize better than others.
Columbia Coating Powder Paint
is great for hand dipping your jigs but does not fluidize in fluid beds well.
We recommend Pro Tec powder paints for fluid bed use. See Pro-Tec powder paints below.

Lures must be preheated to approximately 300-325 degrees F before they are dipped into the powder paint. Dip lures quickly into the powder paint and remove at once.
A pause while dipping lures in the powder of even one second can result in a heavier coat than desired. After removing the lures from the powder,
the paint should melt within a few seconds and flow out. If the finish on the lures is not smooth and glossy, increase preheat temperature 25 degrees.
Curing lures after painting is highly recommended to increase durability. This can be accomplished by hanging the rack of jigs back in the oven
for 20 minutes at the same temperature used to preheat. Curing causes the powder paint to chemically "crosslink", creating one of the toughest finishes in the paint industry.
