Awesome Spinning rod!! I really gave the Simply Crappie SCGC 7 Graphite/Carbon Med/Light 7ft spinning rod a workout a couple of days ago. These white bass are real fighters especially in the swift tail waters below a spillway. The SCGC 7 did a great job, is lightweight with a nice backbone, really strong, durable and is very sensitive also. I combined the SCGC 7 with a Pflueger Trion TR130B spinning reel to make a great combination for this action packed fishing trip. Nice job Bugman on the rods!!
Joe Guiling writes to tell us "The 1/8 ounce BugEyes jig helped the father and son Guiling team to a good day on Wappappello Lake with a 2nd place big fish weighing in at 1.35 lbs." Congratulations to the Guiling Team!!!
Mississippi crappie 2015...Simply Crappie Team made a trip to Grenada Lake and Sardis Lake in Mississippi, the first week of April and caught a few of those big ol' Mississippi sows and some very large male crappie as well.
Premium Bug Eye Double Barb Sickle Hook Jig Head. This nice wintertime crappie was caught by Joe Guiling and his son on Wappappello Lake in southern Missouri in late January, 2015 using one of Simply Crappie's 1\8 ounce staggered barb collar jigs with our white and chartreuse stinger....congrats on the Big un' and the other 35 for the day.
Scott Robinson of Illinois wrote to tell us "Catchin some slabs with your jigs through the ice."
Great job Scott and thanks for the picture and note.
December 25, 2014....A couple buddies and I had another good day yesterday on LOZ, with 45 nice fish caught it was windy, wet and cold but well worth it. The fish had moved shallower 8'-10' foot of water and had gotten more aggresive. The black/pink stinger had to be moving to get bit.
December 2014....Shallow water flats fish. These fish were caught in 8-10 foot of water on the upper end of a major tributary arm of Lake of the Ozarks in water temps ranging from 39-41 degrees. We caught these fish using our pink/black stingers on brushpiles and stakebeds on the flats in this cold water. With back to back fronts going through they really liked the small profile of the stinger.
December 20, 2014....The fish up the Glaize on LOZ have moved out a bit deeper they are in 12'-14 foot of water, tight to brush. They are on the wooliest stuff in the water and not a bit aggressive. We ended with 2 limits of nice fish and only a few actually bit, most of the time you could just feel a bit of weight on the line.
Simply Crappie now offers Custom Spincast Molds and Jigs. recently purchased a spincast machine complete with a vulcanizer which gives me the ability to make custom molds so if you have up to 30 samples of a hard to find jighead I can make a 9 inch mold to fit your needs, any hook size and style.
Any questions, click here or feel free to give Jamie a call at 573-569-3676. We also have most any crappie (and other) jighead style out there in do-it and hilts molds so if you need anything just holler.
We use Eagle Claw Lil' Nasty sickle hooks in most our jig heads. With the sickle design of the Eagle Claw Lil' Nasty hook your hook-up ratio greatly improves over standard hooks due to the wide gap. Hooks the fish in the boney part of the mouth the majority of the time. These hooks are premium super sharp, light wire, bleeding red, gold, or black chrome Eagle Claw sickle hooks.
The Red Mushroom season has begun here in MO, 48 reds, just need some crappie to make a fine supper....mmmm

Grenada Lake crappie fishing was great in April!! We fished the Pick Pocket jig exclusively on Grenada Lake and the black and chartruese color (midnight) and the black and pink color (bandit) really produced some nice fish. We caught most of our crappie by spider rigging in 5' feet of water along the channel edges. Our Pick Pocket jig produced some large crappie as shown in the image to the left, a 2.14 pounder and a 3.1 pounder!!
